Video Review

1. Explain why you selected the video you choose from the selection listed above.

• The video I chose was The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC. I chose the particular video because of the appealing title. I was interested in learning more about the Greeks and the art they took part i  during this specific time period.

2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

• While watching The Greek Awakening: Art from the 5th Century BC Something that stood out to me was the idea of philosophy beginning with the Athens. They have paved the way we think for years and some forms of this thinking is still prevalent today. In the video More Human Than Human, what interested me most was the fact that the style of sculpting the human body remained the same. The same common body parts were emphasized.

3. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text?

• Both the readings from the textbook and the videos relate to one another because they both highlight key and important information. In the video and/or the textbook they provide numerous amounts of examples of how body image is viewed in the world of art.

4. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts?

• I enjoyed watching this weeks videos. They truly added depth to my understanding. These videos are very informative and broadings my understandings of the arts from various cultures. While watching these videos I find myself wanting to know more about the type of art featured in this culture.
