Video Review
Why I selected each video:
Hockney on Photography:
- I was interested in learning about the ins and outs of photography through a professionals stand point.
Andy Warhol: Images of an Image:
- There was no particular reason as to why I picked this video, I chose it randomly.
Key concepts learned:
Hockney on Photography:
- While watching the video Hockey on Photography I became more educated on the many types of photography out there. I learned there is more to the concept of Photography than snapping a picture. One piece of art that stood out to me was called “Drawing with a Camera”. This work is created with grids and polaroids. This artwork was like nothing I would have thought to create on my own. I found this piece of art very unique and appealing to the eyes. There’s no correct way to make art and, I noticed the artist used this idea to his advantage. He had no specific style he just created one of a kind art pieces.
Andy Warhol: Images of an Image:
- In the video Images of an Image I discovered Andy Warhol’s interest in art stemmed from his exposure to advertisement. When creating his art he used pictures of celebrities and even some he took personally. In the video they discussed in great lengths some of Warhol’s techniques that helped create some of his best work. He frequently made art from silk screen.
Relation to the reading:
Hockney on Photography:
- I believed the video was more of a valuable source than the book. While watching the video I was able to obtain so much more information than I while reading the
Andy Warhol: Images of an Image:
- I think both the book and the video had great detail about Andy Warhol and his work. Although I preferred to learn about Warhol though video, I wouldn’t have mind to have read the book alone.
Opinion on the films:
- I like the video due to the many examples they were able to provide about the these artist work. I had the opportunity to witness the different perspectives of how these artist think and what cause inspiration to spark when developing artwork. I enjoyed how these videos told me a lot about the artist. The provided important background information that was essential to understanding why they do what they do.
